"Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second."
- Marc Riboud -
I'm a tall, critical thinker who loves dogs, books, fashion, 90s sitcoms, skincare, space and cooking a mean curry.
A fun fact is that I have a foster fail rescue dog named Dolly so together we are Holly&Dolly <3.
Speaking of animal rescue, that is where my photography journey started. I took one class in university, bought a camera and traveled overseas to Asia for 2 years. My first job was working at a wildlife rescue center and elephant sanctuary as the in-house and rescue team photographer and graphic designer.
After I came home I worked for a few amazing wedding photography studios in the city and I learned so much. I found myself wanting to slow things down and take a more documentary approach. Savor the moments of the day. Everyone always seemed so stressed and distracted the whole time that they were missing their own wedding day.
I made the decision to focus solely on small weddings and elopements as their intimacy and authenticity really speak to my heart. And the fact that you can do whatever you want with them! I've always been a bit of a rebel when it comes to conventional ideas and expectations. I ask "Why?" a lot!
I love to capture real moments. This is what every photographer says isn't it? When I discovered photography it brought me out of my head and back into body so I could experience my life and the world. In moments that I felt stressed or anxious or overwhelmed it would force me into the present moment and to see the beauty in whatever was around me. I love to weave this experience into photographing a wedding day so that the chaos and excitement doesn't mean you aren't taking it all in.
